My Weight Loss Experience with The Medifast Diet Program

By Mpp Sacred

“She is way too fat for me…I wouldn’t dream of dating her!”

How many times have your heard those words or something to that effect? Now how many times have you heard those words said in reference to you? As a pudgy and overweight girl growing up in a fairly large high school, you can bet that I heard those words…a lot.

The fact of the matter is that I had always struggled with my weight and my figure. It was true that I was quite physically active in school–particularly in my younger years–although I was always a bit pudgy. Upon reaching high school, my physical activities tapered off drastically, and I found myself putting on even more weight. No longer was I “pudgy”…I was definitely fat!

Sure I tried to do something about it, and dieting became a regular part of my life. As I now know however, the constant cycle of dieting, falling back into unhealthy habits and dieting again was just about the worse thing I could have done to my body, and I was nowhere near successful at losing weight. Even the dietary supplements that I took in quick succession didn’t help matters any, and I was starting to think that I would be doomed to being a fattie forever…until I stumbled onto Medifast.

Discovering Medifast

I had been hearing a lot about Medifast, but I wasn’t at all convinced that it was anything special after my experiences with all those other supplements and dietary aids I had tried without any results. Little did I know that Medifast was nothing at all like those other programs.

Some of the factors that led me to check out Medifast more closely were the user testimonials I found on the Internet. Some of the most compelling ones told about users losing as much as 20 lbs in 5 weeks, with others losing up to 45 lbs over the course of a few months. These were impressive claims to say the least, and I finally gave Medifast a try.

How Medifast Works

I found out that the Medifast involves eating six small meals a day instead of the three large meals and constant snacking that I was accustomed to. Spaced out in this manner, I had about 2 to 3 hours between meals, and this served to keep my metabolism at sufficiently high rate while keeping my insulin levels in check. Five of those six meals are Medifast Meals consisting of 100 to 150 calories each, and the sixth meal is a “lean and green” meal with a total of 300 to 400 calories. This last meal I had to prepare myself using fresh and healthy ingredients.

I was worried that being limited to these meals was going to be boring, but I was pleased to find out that there were no less than 60 diet products to choose from, all of them being pretty good and most being downright delicious. The program includes shakes, soups, stews, oatmeal, eggs, fruit drinks, and puddings, so there was no way I was going to be bored with what I had to eat. And with the inclusion of the lean meal I had to prepare, which consisted of lean meat and a salad or vegetables, I had everything I could want to eat from a taste and nutrition standpoint.

But the key to the whole program was Medifast itself. With this program, it is entirely possible to lose up to 5 lbs during the first week, and 2 to 3 lbs every week thereafter. I definitely got those same results, and the fact that I experienced none of the headaches and jitters that I felt with other diets was a definite bonus.

Backing From The Medical Community

Another thing that the program has going for it is that it was designed by certified doctors and health professionals to enhance your body’s ability to burn fat while preserving your muscle tissue. Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University and many other medical establishments of note have proven this benefit conclusively, and in fact, as many as 15,000 physicians all over the country have recommended the program to their patients since 1980. How many fad diets can make that claim?

Some of the hardest things about sticking to any diet is keeping track of all the calories and deciding what is healthy to eat and what isn’t. With Medifast however, all the meals are good to go, and good they are indeed. All of the selections in the lineup contain all the vitamins and minerals that are so essential to good health when dieting. This way, you lose pounds and inches without depriving your body of essential nutrients.

Suitable For Diabetics And Menopausal Women

Medifast is also suitable for diabetics, unlike so many other diets and health programs available. Even type 2 diabetics can go on the program safely, and in fact, a study released by yet another research team at Johns Hopkins University showed that Medifast was a more effective means of weight loss for diabetics than the standard American Diabetes Association diet. The same report also showed that more diabetics stayed with the program for the long-term, and metabolic rates for all test subjects were noticeably higher. In addition, diabetics who tried the program have reported needing less type 2 diabetes medications.

Here’s yet another good reason for going on the Medifast program, and it is geared towards older women: Medifast has a version intended of women in their menopausal years. This version contains beneficial ingredients such as black cohosh, echinacea, and chaste tree berry, all of which can ease the ill effects of menopause. Now, who said you can’t lose weight when you are menopausal?

Good Health At Low Cost

Finally, an important benefit of Medifast that should give everyone reason to consider it is the price. Some of the dietary supplements and health programs out there can be downright expensive, and the reasonable price of the Medifast program was quite welcome indeed. For instance, I ordered the four-week supply of Medifast and I was pleasantly surprised to not only get it at a cut-rate price, but it also came with an extra week’s worth of the product…and with free shipping at that! How many similar deals can you find out there? At a cost of $8.60 per day, Medifast is definitely a great deal for all the benefits that you could get.

Making The Case For Medifast

Like all diets and health programs, it is important to consider Medifast from all angles before deciding that it is indeed right for you. I can only speak for myself ,but I have to say that of all the diet pills, supplements and programs that I’ve tried–and I’ve tried many–few can claim to offer the benefits that Medifast can, and fewer still have as much backing from health professionals and the general public. At the time of this writing, well over a million people have tried Medifast, and their lives have definitely changed for the better…and I am one of them.

Now keep in mind that the Medifast program will require a bit of discipline on your part. You can’t very well expect to chow down on a fat, greasy burger and expect the program to work its magic on you, simply because the Medifast program isn’t a miracle cure. You can’t cheat and binge on ice cream and cake for one meal. If you stick to the Medifast program however (which is really easy enough to do given all the delicious selections available), you will definitely see some results.

If you are tired of the constant cycle of dieting and binging, and you are nowhere near losing the pounds you want, it may be time to look into the Medifast way of doing things. You just may find that it will change your life the way that it did for me.
